
Kelly is a 24 year old World Class Downhiller from Kitchener, Ontario. In 2006 she won the first World Cup podium of her young career finishing third in the Super G at the Bombardier Lake Louise Winterstart.
With the impressive and historic result Vanderbeek becomes the first Canadian woman ever to podium in World Cup competition at the Lake Louise Mountain Resort.
She competed in her first Olympics in 2006. She missed the podium by three one-hundredths of a second. She looks to take a medal home in the 2010 Olympic Games.
She lives in Chilliwack, B.C., with longtime boyfriend, Olympic whitewater kayaker David Ford. In her free time Kelly likes to read and paint, and is open to trying out many new hobbies to find "what fits her style". She enjoys chocolate ice cream, sushi and and doughnuts as comfort food.
